Next Steps

Status: Consultation Draft
Purpose: To explain how the governance framework and Rulebook proposals will be developed and brought to members for approval.

Certain elements of the proposed Rulebook depend on how the Club is structured and governed. These dependencies must be understood before the rules can be completed consistently.

What this consultation is asking

Members are not being asked to approve detailed rules at this stage.

Members are being asked to:

  • confirm that a governance framework is required
  • confirm that the Rulebook should be developed on that basis
  • agree that a structured, member-led process should proceed

Proposed approach

1. Governance Sub-Committee

A member-led Governance Sub-Committee will be formed.

It will include:

  • members with relevant experience
  • senior and experienced Club members
  • contributors able to support governance and rule development

Its role will be to:

  • review the current rules
  • consider the governance framework
  • prepare a consistent set of proposed rules

2. Development of proposals

The Sub-Committee will:

  • address the governance dependencies identified in this consultation
  • develop a coherent and workable Rulebook
  • ensure alignment between structure, authority, and responsibility

3. Member consultation

Draft proposals will be made available to members.

Members will be able to:

  • comment on proposals
  • suggest changes
  • highlight concerns

Members may:

  • contribute by name
  • or use page feedback (like/dislike) where detailed comment is not preferred

This is intended to be a proper and accessible consultation.

4. Committee review

The Committee will:

  • review the proposals
  • consider member feedback
  • ensure legal and structural consistency

5. Final proposal

A final Rulebook will be:

  • presented to members
  • formally proposed
  • subject to approval in accordance with the Club’s rules

Outcome

This process is intended to ensure that:

  • the Rulebook reflects an agreed governance framework
  • members are involved in its development
  • the final document is clear, consistent, and workable

Member participation

Members are encouraged to:

  • contribute to the consultation
  • take part in the Sub-Committee
  • provide feedback
  • help shape the future governance of the Club

Member comments

Please use comments to:

  • confirm whether these dependencies are appropriate
  • highlight any concerns
  • suggest alternative approaches
